DZIQ: 150 families homeless, P3.5M worth of property damaged in QC fire

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 4) About 150 families were left homeless and P3.5 million worth of property were damaged when a fire broke out from a residential compound in Cubao, Quezon City Friday morning, according to a report on Radyo Inquirer.

Two people were also injured in the fire in Socorro Village along 15th Avenue, which started at 10:18 a.m. and was declared under control at 11:43 a.m., authorities said.

A certain Albert, a fire volunteer from Barangay (village) San Roque Fire Brigade, was hurt when he was hit by a steel crook while one Kenneth, a resident, was treated for minor burns, the report said, quoting Chief Inspector Santiago Laguna, Quezon City Fire Department Head.

At least 50 houses were destroyed in the blaze that reached Task Force Alpha, the report said.

Five fire trucks were deployed to put out the fire, said Fire Marshal Senior Superintendent Bobby Baruelo.

The fire started inside the room of Ivan Clemente on the second floor of a two-story building owned by Loraida Tingkol, the Radyo Inquirer report said.

Clemente is a tenant of the building inside a compound owned by Alfonso Maglaya. Clemente wasn’t home when the incident happened, the report said.
