AROUND A HUNDRED participants joined DC Shoes USA and Monster Energy Drink’s Dirt Showdown: The search for ultimate Gymkhana Xbox 360 competition yesterday at the Ayala Center Cebu Active Zone.
The participants were competing for an all-expense paid trip to the championships in Singapore later this year.
Organized by DC Shoes USA, Epicsoft games and Codemasters, the video game-based tournament aims to promote the fast rising sports of dirt racing and drifting.
This is the first year the competition is held here but it has already been held in Malaysia and Thailand. Its next stop will be in Vietnam and Indonesia.
“We are looking forward to make this competition an annual event because we also want to have our own Asian competitors play against US players,” said Kenny Wong Wing Hoong, one of the developers of the game from Codemasters.
The competition was going on as of press time. The Cebu champions will receive cash prizes and DC products./Correspondent Dale G. Rosal
