UP Cookout 2012 will keep the volume up from dusk to dawn featuring performances from local bands on Aug. 10 at the University of the Philippines Cebu grounds.
Organized by the college’s Student Council and Spectrum Productions, the event will also showcase UPian talents in four segments, namely, wii move (sayawan), iTune Up (kantahan), youth-tube (bandahan) and twit-wear (rampahan).
Cookout has become an annual event that addresses a specific social issue through entertainment.
Now on its 25th year, Cookout will highlight the responsible use of social networking sites and the World Wide Web as a platform for social activism, thus the theme “Iskonek. Reboot the system. Start UP!”
Charisse Gay Ursal, Cookout overall director, promised the audience that the event’s silver anniversary will be a blast.
“Cookout is a venue where we voice out our call for change about a certain issue. The Spectrum Productions since last year has been faithful to this call and we are honored to celebrate its silver anniversary and to continue the legacy Cookout started 25 years ago. Cookout 2012 will be worth the wait,” she said.
Local bands such as Shuffled, Bethany and Powerspoonz will also rock the Cookout stage.
Entrance is free for UP students while non-UPians will be charged P60.
