Families living along Pasay City creek evacuated

MANILA, Philippines—Families living along the Maricaban Creek in Pasay City have been evacuated to designated centers in the city after the swollen river caused chest-deep floods in at least five barangays.

The Pasay city government’s rescue team recorded the highest flood—four to six feet high—in Barangay 185.

Michael Flores of the Pasay rescue team, said as of 5 a.m., 50 families from five barangays—Barangays 182, 179, 177, 190, and 191—are housed in the barangay hall of Barangay 182-184.

“Those barangays have requested for our help in the evacuation of affected families. The rescue operations are ongoing” he said.
