2 Cebu schools benefit from rewiring project
AT least two elementary schools in Cebu have benefitted from the rewiring project of Visayan Electric Co. (Veco).
Veco upgraded the electrical systems of Tipolo Elementary School in Mandaue City and Jugan Elementary School in Consolacion town by replacing the schools’ sub-standard lines with standard electrical wirings and incandescent bulbs with the cost-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL).
The Jugan school project that cost P227,470 was completed last July 1, while the Tipolo project amounting to P416,644 was finished on July 8.
Since 2010, Veco, through the Aboitiz Foundation, the social development arm of the Aboitiz Group of companies, has already rewired seven schools including Garing National High School in Consolacion, Arcelo Memorial High School in Liloan, Cansojong National High School in Talisay City and Pasil Night High School in Cebu City.
The project aims to provide safe standard electrical wirings to protect students and teachers and the surrounding communities from the fire.
