Hundreds of families near Marikina River evacuated

MANILA, Philippines — Hundreds of families living near the Marikina River were evacuated Tuesday in various schools and gyms in the city after local authorities raised the fourth alarm.

In a statement posted on the Ateneo De Manila facebook website and in a tweet posted on the INQUIRER.net weather live tweets, the following were listed as evacuation centers as of 6:30 a.m.

1. Concepcion Integrated School – 167 families/835 persons

2. Bulelak Gym – 162 families/816 persons

3. H. Bautista Elementary School – 463 families/2,337 persons

4. Malanday Elementary School – 401 families/2,285 persons

5. Concepcion Elementary School – 12 families/72 persons

6. Sta. Elena Chapel (Lambak) – 5 families/25 persons

7. Nangka Elementary School – 110 families/576 persons

8. Filipinas Village Gym – 84 families/581 persons

9. Sampaguita Gym- 95 families/491 persons

The data was provided by the Marikina Public Information Office and the Tindig ng Kabataan Rovers, a student organization based in Tanong High School, Markina City.

As of 8 a.m., the water level of Marikina River is at 19 meters, the Marikina PIO said on its twitter account.
