MANILA, Philippines – Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo showed up on Monday at the Sandiganbayan’s pre-trial on corruption charges lodged against her in connection with the overpriced NBN-ZTE deal.

Arroyo was on a wheelchair and wearing her neck brace when she appeared before the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division for the pre-trial. She was later excused by the judge, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said.

Arroyo went back to the Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) where she was rushed last week after choking on a piece of melon.

She was freed from nearly eight months of detention at the VMMC last week after being allowed by the Pasay regional trial court to post bail.
