MANILA, Philippines – A developing cyclone was spotted off east of Luzon and the southwest monsoon will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over the western section of Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Monday.

The shallow low pressure area was estimated at about 920 km east of Northern Luzon while light to moderate rains will continue over the rest of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa said the southwest monsoon in western section of Luzon (Pangasinan, Zambales down south to Batangas and Mindoro including the National Capital Region)  may trigger flashfloods and landslides in the areas.
