‘BURIRING’ DOWNS SIX

SIX relatives in Bantayan Island off northern Cebu fell ill after they ate puffer fish locally known as “buriring.”

Alejandro Minguito, 51; his 13-year-old son, Alvin, and 11-year-old grand daughter Rich Kay Ray Co; Dionisio Abrasada, 53; his two sons Joseph, 33, and Joel, 23, were confined at the Bantayan District Hospital.

Police investigation revealed that Alejandro bought fish from Glen “Dodong” Opril at 8 a.m. last Saturday and cooked it for breakfast.

It was not clear how the fish was cooked.

2 LABORERS SHOT, HURT

TWO shell craft laborers were shot and wounded by an unidentified assailant in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting of Joseph Sumampon, 19, and Ronald Dinglas, 20.

The two men were shot as they stepped out of Dimja Videoke Bar in F. Jaca Street around 4 a.m. yesterday.

Sumampon was shot in the abdomen, while Dinglas was wounded in the groin area.

Responding police brought the two men to a Cebu City hospital.

The incident could be a case of random violence or pargela, said SPO4 Rey Cuyos of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
