Korean robbed inside his car in Malate

MANILA, Philippines – A teenager was arrested, while his cohorts escaped after they allegedly robbed a Korean national while inside his vehicle in Manila early Sunday, a Manila Police District-General Assignment investigator said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Jonathan Bautista identified the arrested suspect as Mark Jay Huarde, and the victim as one Jung Sun Her, 34, who was robbed inside his vehicle while it was on a stop along Remedios Circle in Malate, Manila around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

“Her’s vehicle was on a stop along the area when the five suspects forcibly opened and snatched from the victim his necklace worth P10,000,” Bautista said, noting that some of the suspects stood in front of the vehicle to stop it from moving, while the others opened the doors.

The suspects fled after the incident, but Huarde was accosted later after he was spotted by village watchman Donie Berongoy while he was busy playing E-games along Quirino Avenue in Malate.

Huarde was positively identified by Her as the one who snatched his necklace, Bautista said.

The looted item, however, was not recovered from the arrested suspect as it has been pawned somewhere in Malate.

Bautista said further investigation was underway for the possible arrest of the remaining suspects.
