3 Cebuanos shine in Ironkids
The Chiongbian brothers of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu did not disappoint as they placed in the top 2 of their respective categories in yesterday’s Alaska IronKids Philippines Triathlon at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa.
In their first-ever IronKids competition, Yuan clinched the 11-12 title with a time of 33 minutes and 46.6 seconds while his older brother Justin placed second in the 13-14 category after clocking 29:57.9.
The Chiongbian siblings said they were both very happy with their achievement with Justin saying that it was a truly great race.
Although they trained regularly and consistently for the competition, Yuan said he was not quite confident because he saw new faces and fast athletes.
He added that the run course was not at all easy because of a steep climb which had to be done four times.
Finishing as runner-up to Yuan were Brent Valelo (34:28.2) and Nathan Nalo (35:33).
