IN a stunning prelude to Johnriel Casimero’s IBF world jr.flyweight title defense in Mexico, Filipina-American Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton knocked out Mexican Abigail “Pinguita” Ramos in the opening round of a 10-round non-title bout held in Yucatan, Mexico yesterday.
Julaton (12W-3L-1D, 2 KOs), a former WBO and IBA world champion, needed only a few seconds to finish the job and the result has been hailed as the fastest knockout scored in that Mexican region.
The inexperienced Ramos (3W-4L, 2 KOs) suffered her fourth professional loss. She was a replacement fighter for another Mexican, Magali Rodriguez, who suddenly backed out on her agreement with Orion Sports Promotions to face Julaton.
This is Julaton’s second straight win since losing her WBO female superbantamweight world title in Argentina last March to Yessica Patricia Marcos.
The fight billed as “Bagyo sa Mexico 3 – Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton vs. Abigail “Pinguita” Ramos” will be aired today over GMA 7 starting at 11 a.m. /Correspondent Rene Bonsube Jr.
