No bail granted to 3 robbery suspects in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines—Police on Thursday charged robbery with homicide against three suspects responsible for the death of Jose Miguel Quiroz, 26, a resident in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, in March, a police official said.

Calabarzon police director, Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr., said the suspects Rolando “Landoy” Espinelli, John Sanota and Deo “Rubrub” Dayto were positively identified by Santiago Abion, another suspect who turned witness.

Abion told the police he served as lookout when Espinelli, Sanota and Dayto robbed Hacienda Otso in Mesaland, Don Jose village in Sta. Rosa City on the night of March 31, resulting in the death of Quiroz.

The three, Pagdilao said, were arrested the following day.

The case was filed in the office of Sta. Rosa City Prosecutor Ramonito Delfin. No bail was recommended for the three suspects, said Pagdilao.

Authorities also tagged Sanota and Espinelli in several other crimes in Calabarzon.
