LRT1 operations back to normal–spokesman

MANILA, Philippines — The operation of the Light Rail Transit 1 which was disrupted by the fire that hit a nearby residential area in Pasay City Friday morning has returned fully to normal, a spokesman for the LRT Authority told INQUIRER.net.

Lawyer Hernando Cabrera said the area affected by the blaze was near the LRT Vito Cruz Station, forcing management to operate only half of the line.

“From 7:53 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. we only operated half of the line, the one along Roosevelt Station to Central Station.”

He said they resumed operations from Baclaran to Central and back after 8:40 a.m.

Fire broke out from a residential area along Taft Avenue, Pasay at 7:37 a.m. but was declared under control after it reached third alarm at past 8 a.m.

No one was reported hurt.
