City Hall vacancies unfilled over low budget

City Hall has at least 76 vacancies for regular positions.

These positions have not been filled yet due to budget constraints.

Atty. Evangeline Abatayo, acting chief of the Human Resources and Development Office (HRDO), said the city only has P2 million left in its personnel budget or just enough to hire three new regular employees.

Abatayo said several City Hall offices have been requesting that the vacancies be filled up.

Almost all City Hall departments have vacancies, Abatayo said.

She said City Hall vacancies were caused by early resignations and retirements.

Mayor Michael Rama said in a separate interview that funding may be appropriated in the next supplemental budget if there is urgency to hire new personnel.

“We need talents at City Hall,” said Rama.

From January to June 30, Abatayo said the HRDO has opened 76 regular City Hall positions.
