HOPING to continue and strengthen its charity works here in Cebu, the Visayas Community Medical Center (VCMC) will stage its first-ever half marathon dubbed “Value Charity, Make a Change” on Sept. 2 starting at the Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City.
The race will feature 21k half marathon, 12k, 6k and 3k categories.
The proceeds of the race will go to the charity patients of VCMC, an institution under the tutelage of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.
“This is a big help for us and we know that the proceeds of this running event will go a long way,” said VCMC medical director Dr. Eli Belarmino during yesterday’s official launching at the VCMC conference room.
According to Belarmino, VCMC gives free surgery to less fortunate patients who are in need of serious medical attention as a mandate given to them by UCCP.
Registration has started at the VCMC along Osmeña Boulevard, Ice Castle in Rain Tree Mall and SM City Cebu, Parkmall and RUNNR Ayala.
Registration fee is pegged at P500 for the 21k, P300 for the 12k and P250 for the 3k and 6k categories. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
