4.6 quake hits Visayas

MANILA, Philippines – A minor quake hit Visayas early Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Siesmology (Phivolcs) said.

In its situation report, Phivolcs said that the quake, which measured magnitude 4.6, hit 62 kilometers south east of Sipalay City, Negros Occidental at 2:49 am. The tectonic quake had a shallow depth of 15 kilometers, Phivolcs said.

Intesity 3 was felt in Sipalay City while intensity 2 was felt in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental and in Iloilo City.

No damages were reported and no aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs said.
