Games today:
Araneta Coliseum
5:30 p.m.- B-Meg vs. Air21
7:45 p.m.- Petron vs. Powerade
THEY ARE ALREADY assured of a semifinal slot but don’t expect the Peton Blaze Booster to let up when they play the Powerade Tigers in today’s main game of the 36th PBA Governors Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Boosters booked a semifinals ticket after winning five of their first seven games. They are joined at the top spot of the standings by the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, who secured their own semis berth by scoring a 93-91 come-from-behind win over sister team Meralco Bolts on Wednesday night. The grand slam-seeking Texters also have 5-2 (win-loss) records.
Although already assured of a semis spot, the Boosters still need to win their final elimination game as the teams’ elimination round records will be carried over to the semis.
Today’s game is also crucial for the Tigers, who are looking to avoid a loss that could mean elimination. Powerade is currently at eighth spot with two wins and four losses.
Tournament format states that the number seven to nine teams after the initial round will be eliminated while the top six will move to the semis. EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
