PICKPOCKET NABBED, MAULED
A 43-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly picking the pocket of a jeepney passenger in barangay Basak, Mandaue City, on Wednesday.
William Ale of barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, was about to flee when bystanders collared him and mauled him, said police.
An envelope with P30,000 belonging to a passenger was found in his pocket, said police.
The complainant, Alvin Cabahug, 20, of barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City, told police that he was on his way to a bank to deposit the P30,000.
Cabahug said he kept the money in a white envelope in the right front pocket of his pants.
He was about to disembark from the jeepney when he noticed that someone touched his right pocket.
When Cabahug noticed the envelope was missing, he confronted Ale, who was seated at his right.
Ale denied any wrongdoing. Not convinced, Cabahug checked the man’s bag. He found nothing and tried to search the man’s pockets.
It was then that Ale ran off. Cabahug shouted for help.
Bystanders noticed the commotion and collared Ale. The P30,000 was later found in his pocket, said police.
Police arrived and arrested Ale, who will be facing theft charges. REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
