2 MEN NABBED FOR DRUGS
TWO men were arrested in separate drug buy-bust operations in Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue cities on Tuesday night.
Rolly Augusto, 27, was arrested in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu after he allegedly sold two packs of suspected shabu worth P300 to a poseur buyer.
His companion, Reynaldo Gareon, eluded arrest.
Augusto is in the police list of drug suspects involved in selling drugs, said Chief Insp. Conrado Manatad, chief of police station 2.
Seized from Augusto were one small pack of suspected shabu, three rolled tinfoil and P300 cash used as buy-bust money.
Next to fall was Henry Bacasmas, who allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to a policeman posing as a buyer in barangay Basak, Mandaue.
Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, chief of the Basak police, said the arrest came after they received several reports that Bacasman was selling drugs.

TAXI CATCHES FIRE IN LAPU
A TAXICAB caught fire in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City last Tuesday afternoon.
Judy Cañete, driver of Ken taxi, and his three passengers escaped unharmed.
One of the passengers was an amputee who was just discharged from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City where they were picked up by the taxi.
The taxi was traveling in sitio Takan around 4 p.m. when smoke started coming out from under the hood.
Cañete and his passengers hurriedly got down.
With the help of an airport security guard, the driver used a pail of water to try to put out the fire but the flames continued to spread.
A fire truck of barangay Mactan arrived and put out the fire.
Property damage was pegged at P60,000.

2 ARMED MEN ARRESTED IN TALISAY
TWO armed men were arrested in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
Police said a .38 revolver was seized from Ronald Villanueva, 25, of barangay Poblacion, Talisay.
Villanueva’s companion, Robert Abatayo, 21, yielded a bladed weapon.
A background check on the two men will be conducted, said police.
The two men were arrested by PO2 Roy Lofranco and PO1 Edwin Campomanes who were on patrol duty at dawn yesterday.
They spotted the two men acting suspiciously.
After frisking, the two men were found to be armed with a handgun and bladed weapon.
