8 motorcycle-riding men rob couple of P67,000 in Manila
Eight motorcycle-riding men robbed on Wednesday afternoon a couple who were about to park their vehicle at the garage of their house in Manila.
The robbers, described as men in their early 20s, took shots at the car being driven by jewel trader Arsenio Wei when he refused to open the doors of the vehicle.
Fortunately, none of the bullets hit Wei or his two children who were also inside the car.
Supt. Jimmy Tiu, chief of the Manila Police District Station 8, said the robbery happened at 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday in front of the Weis’ house in Bacood, Sta. Mesa.
Wei’s wife, Elsa, had just alighted from the family car, a BMW, to open the gate to their house when the suspects on three motorcycles approached her.
At gunpoint, they asked her for her handbag which she promptly threw under a car which was parked nearby.

Elsa said she started begging the robbers to just take her valuables and not to harm her children even as Wei locked the doors of the vehicle to keep the armed men out.
The robbers, however, fired twice at the car when Wei refused to open the doors.
The move backfired because the gunshots drew the attention of a neighbor who came out to see what the commotion was all about.
When the neighbor spotted the armed men, he started shouting at them, throwing them into a panic.
They got on their motorcycles and then drove away, taking with them Elsa’s bag and her jewelry worth P50,000.
