First grand reunion for NSA alumni set

THE University of Cebu (UC), in cooperation with the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association (NSA) Philippines cadet program, invites all UC NIS/NSA alumni to their first alumni homecoming on Aug. 4 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino along Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City.

Dubbed “A grand reunion: Hands across the sea,” this gathering of Filipino seafarers will be graced by NIS/NSA project founder Magnar Sundsvag, NSA program Deputy Director Lars Bleyman, NSA/NIS project manager George Frange, project assistant manager (1998-2001) Chief Engr. Patricio Gonzales Jr. and UC president Augusto Go.

A ceremonial toast by Interim UC NSA/NIS alumni president Errol Joe Agot will be among the highlights of the program that includes giving of awards to outstanding alumni and plaques of recognition to all alumni members.

 
The NSA serves more than 160 Norwegian shipping companies and offshore contractors, which employs more than 55,000 seafarers and offshore workers from all over the world.

The NSA Philippines cadet program of the Association of Shipowners’ Training and Education Project aims to improve the maritime education in the Philippines.

Of the total population of seafarers worldwide, 35 to 40 percent are Filipinos.
