NCRPO to go on full alert day before Aquino’s SONA

MANILA, Philippines—A full alert will be raised over Metro Manila a day before the State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III, National Capital Region Police Office Director Alan Purisima said Thursday.

The NCRPO chief said they were currently on heightened alert and that preparations were being made to ensure security measures were in place during the president’s SONA on July 25.

Purisima reiterated that some 7,000 metro policemen would be deployed on Sunday in preparation for the SONA.

He said they would also be coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority in ensuring peace in the metro.
