1 person critical in 7-vehicle pile-up along Commonwealth Ave.

MANILA, Philippines – At least one person riding a bicycle was reportedly in critical condition after being involved in a seven-vehicle traffic accident along Commonwealth Avenue.

According to initial reports from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Rescue team, they received a report around noon that one bus hit six vehicles in the westbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue.

A radio report said that one person, who was riding a bike got involved and was in critical condition. A tow truck and a pickup were reportedly among the vehicles involved.

At least three patients have been sent to three different hospitals, Angela Bambao, Duty officer of MMDA rescue said in a phone interview.

No arrests have been made and investigations into the accident are still ongoing, Bambao said.
