THE FAR EASTERN University Tamaraws has had enough of close games and fashioned out a 92-66 rout of the University of the East Red Warriors for their fourth straight win yesterday in the 75th UAAP basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Tamaraws appeared to be in trouble in the first as they trailed, 9-18, but made up for the deficit in a hurry, unleashing a 15-0 blast that completely turned the tide and gave them a 42-29, at halftime.
The Red Warriors tried to push the tempo in the third period but was met with aplomb by forward Arvie Bringas, a transferee from La Salle, who scored nine of his 11 in that stretch to help the Tamaraws pull away, 61-47, heading to the last period.
Once again, it was the incredible guard duo of Terrence Romeo and former MVP RR Garcia who terrorized the defense of UE as they had 19 and 18 points, respectively. Anthony Hargrove added 11 markers.
