A man who faces three counts of rape found himself in deeper trouble after he was caught with illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm in Quezon City on Saturday.
Orlando Elsisura, 40, a resident of Pook Dagohoy on the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, was arrested near his house by members of the UP Police who turned him over to the custody of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
Case investigator Police Officer 3 Loreto Tigno said that UP policemen were serving an arrest warrant on Elsisura when he yielded two sachets of marijuana and what was believed to be “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride.
On top of the drugs, lawmen also found in his possession a homemade cal. .22 firearm and ammunition.
Earlier, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 86 issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest on three counts of rape.
The judge set the bail for each count at P200,000.
In the meantime, the suspect remains in the custody of the police pending the filing of charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition as well as for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act in the city prosecutor’s office.
