Guardo’s surprise

BUSINESSMAN Jonathan Guardo said he decided to “mend fences” with former rival Tomas Osmeña and support his mayorship bid in 2013.

Guardo said that like any businessman, he wants a mayor who can sustain the city’s economic prosperity.

“We have to continue.  We don’t have to be complacent.  Ato ibalik si mayor Tom sa City Hall.  Sa 2013 Type O na ta!” Guardo told a cheering crowd at the SM Trade Hall during Osmena’s 64th birthday.

“Cebu City is now enjoying economic growth and progress.  All of that is because of the vision and the foundation laid by Mayor Tom years ago,” he said.

What’s missing though is younger brother Sambag 1 barangay captain Jerry Guardo, who is running for city councilor under Team Rama.

“There is still time. I don’t know if his decision to run is already final,” Jonathan said of his brother. /Chief of Reporter Doris C. Bongcac
