FIRE RAZES HOUSES IN BALAMBAN
PROPERTIES worth P1.3 million were destroyed by a fire in barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, midwest Cebu.
Investigators said the fire, which broke out at 2:48 a.m. yesterday, razed an eatery, a bakeshop and three houses.
The fire started at an abandoned house owned by Cheryl Tampos, said FO1 Ramil Tapia of the Balamban fire station.
The fire was contained in 45 minutes.
Someone was seen burning a pile of garbage at the back of the house last Thursday afternoon.

ARMED MAN NABBED
A 34-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for carrying an unlicensed firearm in barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.
A home-made .357 revolver with six bullets was recovered from Samson Canteveros, a resident of barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police rushed to the Ceniza Compound after receiving a report that an armed man was spotted there at 10:30 p.m. last Thursday.
Canteveros was allegedly caught holding the firearm when policemen arrived.
A charge of illegal possesion of firearm will be filed against Canteveros, said police.

’PIMP’ SHOT DEAD IN KAMAGAYAN
A MAN standing by the road was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding assailants in barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City.
Johnrey Bacolod died on the spot due to a gunshot wound in the right shoulder.
The attack happened early morning yesterday.
Police said Bacolod, a suspected pimp, was standing by the road with two women when a motorcycle with two men on board arrived.
The backrider approached the victim and opened fire without warning.
A deformed slug from a .45 pistol was recovered in the area.

LENDING FIRM RANSACKED
A LENDING company lost close to P200,000 cash after its office was burglarized in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.
The burglary was discovered last Thursday by Cleofe Quibod, owner of the JEE Lending Corp. in sitio Pilapil.
Police said the thieves entered the office by destroying a window.
