Lear plants trees with PBSP

/ 06:59 AM July 28, 2012

VOLUNTEERS from Lear Corp. trooped to sitio Cantipla in Cebu City early morning of July 21 to conduct a tree planting activity, in cooperation with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

The activity was part of Lear’s corporate environmental awareness program, in partnership with PBSP’s Cebu Hillylands Reforestation Caravan.

Fifty-eight employee volunteers from the various departments of Lear joined the activity. After being oriented on the proper handling and planting of the seedlings, the volunteers made their way down the slope to plant trees in designated areas.

After a few hours, 2,500 indigenous and fruit bearing trees were planted by the volunteers.

Tree planting is an annual activity spearheaded by Lear’s environmental protection committee. Last year, in partnership with Luyang Elementary School, the activity was held in Carmen, Cebu, where 200 trees were planted.
