Fire hits village
CEBU—Three houses, a restaurant and a bakery went up in smoke on Friday when a fire hit a portion of Barangay Buanoy, Balamban town.
No one was hurt but fire investigators pegged the damage at P1.3 million.
FO1 Ramel Tapia, investigator of the Balamban Fire Station, said the fire of still unknown origin broke out at 2:28 a.m. from an abandoned house owned by Cherry Tampus, across the Gate 1 of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, one of the leading medium-size shipbuilding companies.
The blaze then spread toward a house, a restaurant, a bakeshop, a boarding house and a stockroom.
Neighbors told fire investigators that someone burned a pile of garbage at the back of Tampus’ house. Jhunnex Napallacan, Inquirer Visayas
