Makati City Assistant Prosecutor Emmanuel D. Medina’s car, which was driven by his 24-year-old son Evan Ephraim, figured in a minor traffic accident with another car along Alabang-Zapote Road in Muntinlupa City two months ago.
Medina’s car bumped the left rear portion of the other car, a Mercedes Benz driven by Rick Ramos.
Photographs shown to this writer indicate that Evan Ephraim was at fault since he hit Ramos’ car from behind.
But you know what?
Ramos has been charged with damage to property through reckless imprudence in the Muntinlupa City Prosecutor’s Office!
It’s not far-fetched that the elder Medina used his influence over his colleagues in Muntinlupa City.
His wife is Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Judge Antonietta Medina.
If this is not arrogance of power, I don’t know what is.

A movie producer has offered Sen. Ping Lacson P7 million for the rights to a movie to be made about him when he was a fugitive from justice.
Lacson, apparently boasting, said the film would be released in November or December.
What’s there to be proud of being a fugitive from justice, especially when it appears you’re running away from a twin murder case?
Being accused of involvement in the murder of publicist Bubby Dacer and his driver, Emmanuel Corbito, is nothing to crow about.
Only criminal minds or those with criminal tendencies will probably watch the movie about Lacson’s life on the run.

By the way, a Palace insider told me President Noy has changed his mind about appointing Lacson as interior secretary vice the incumbent, Jesse Robredo.
It’s good the President has come to his senses.
Why would he appoint somebody who was once a fugitive from justice to a position that deals with crime and criminals?

Some quarters are questioning the results of the test on the Glock 17 (9 mm) pistol which passed the durability test conducted by the Philippine National Police recently.
There are reports that a congressman, who doesn’t know anything about firearms, will seek a congressional inquiry.
The inquiry will not go anywhere. Before it can even start, it is easy to see that the complaints are nothing but instances of sourgraping.
