ANS 79ers to hold OUTREACH program

THE Abellana National School batch 1979 (ANS 79ers) headed by Ben Gomo will hold an outreach program on Aug. 4 at the Hospicio de San Jose de Barili with the theme “ANS 79ers outreach program, walay katapusang pagpakabana, pagpangga ug pagtabang”.

Participants wearing their official batch t-shirt may assemble at ANS main gate from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

THE Golden Center of Cebu Inc. will celebrate its 10th founding anniversary by holding a convention on aging.

With the theme “Healthy aging and its issues,” the convention will be held on Oct. 2 and 3 at the Grand Convention Center on Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City.

The opening ceremony will highlight a keynote speech by Health Undersecretary Dr. David Lozada, followed by the awarding of centenarians and the opening of exhibits and booths and a luncheon symposium. Topics include stem cell neurodegenerative diseases and aesthetics application and treatment by Dr. Cristina Puyat, skin care of elderly by Dr. Alfonso Amores, policies in aging and retirement by Dr. Tomas Fernandez, all aboard to gerontology by Marylou B. Ong. Day 1 will culminate with the fellowship night chaired by Dr. Camacho.

On the second day, Oct. 3, there will be lectures on a barrier-free environment by accessibility specialist Adela Kono and hypertension in elderly. Participants will then take a break and visit the booth, before going back to the lectures on nutrition and wellness by Dr. Letlet Mission from National Nutrition Council and chiropractic by Dr. James Pardis. Highlights on the second day include the sharing of best practices in elderly program by the cities of Cebu, Makati, Davao, Talisay and Tacloban. Lectures in Alzheimer’s disease and sleep disorders follow.

Cebu Normal University president Dr. Marcelo T. Lopez will give his closing remarks.

Participants will receive certificates. The pre-registration fee is only P800, while on-site registration fee is P1,000. Registration deadline is Aug. 30.
