Youth body holds poster making contest, to declare winner during praise concert

THE Family of United and Empowered Leaders (FUEL), the 8th district of the Commission on Youth in the Archdiocese of Cebu, held a poster making contest last July 21 as a preliminary activity of its second praise and worship concert this coming Saturday.

District leaders and their contestants gathered at the Blessed John Seminary XXIII to interpret the event’s theme “Break the Silence: Dreaming and healing for the nation through the intercession of Blessed Pedro Calungsod.”

With one poster in one hand and coloring materials on the other, contestants were given a maximum of two hours to create an artwork.

The entry that will get the highest votes during the concert will win.

“Every participating district is encouraged to pool in coins and even paper bills to boost their chance of winning. We are putting up an art exhibit during the concert to present the artworks. People can vote their favorite entry by placing peso coins or any amount in the designated boxes. Voting starts the moment the exhibit opens and ends an hour before the end of the concert,” said Jess Juvalanie, head of the organizing committee.

Proceeds of the concert will go to the chosen beneficiary of the FUEL.

As part of the series of youth events of the Archdiocese to mark the countdown for Blessed Pedro Calungod’s canonization, the praise and worship concert on July 28 will be held at the Blessed John Seminary XXIII football grounds in Mabolo, Cebu City.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and a Holy Mass will be celebrated to start the program.
