MANILA, Philippines — Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed he has received P7 million for the movie rights to his life in exile while avoiding an arrest warrant for the murder of a publicist in 2000.

Lacson said the film would likely be released in November or December but refused to give more details.

The senator added that the movie would be vague about the exact whereabouts of his life abroad, to protect those who helped him during his exile.

FEATURED STORIES

Lacson once said he would rather bring to the grave the details of his life in hiding than compromise those who aided him.

Lacson’s sudden departure in early 2010 sprung from an arrest warrant for the double murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito. The senator returned in March 2011 after the Court of Appeals voided the warrant.

A previous movie about Lacson in 2001 entitled “Ping Lacson: Supercop” starred the late Rudy Fernandez.
