JBC interview: Diokno says SC shouldn’t flip flop on decisions
MANILA, Philippines—Flip-flopping of cases does not add credibility to the court, human rights lawyer Jose Manuel Diokno said Tuesday.
Diokno was the fourth candidate to be interviewed Tuesday by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) which is screening candidates to replace ousted Chief Justice Renato Corona.
“I would rather that final Supreme Court decisions stay final and will not flip flop,” he said.
The high court has been subject of criticisms after it issued several final and executory rulings which later on will be reversed.
Recently, the high court issued a status quo ante against the order by the Labor Department imposing wages and benefits for bus drivers and conductors but was withdrawn a day later.
