MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) near Mindanao that may develop into a cyclone.
The LPA was seen 930 kilometers east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Tuesday. Should it enter the Philippine territory and become a cyclone, it would be called “Gener”.
But until then, the southwest monsoon affecting Luzon will bring rains, particularly in the western section of the region, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the South to Southwest with slight to moderate seas.
