/ 08:32 AM July 23, 2012

ROY TABOTABO and his partner Nestor Senior leads the top contenders in the first Vice Mayor Glen Bercede Tennis Cup, which kicked off yesterday at the Mandaue Tennis Club.

Around 160 tennisters will vie in the tournament,  which has A, B, C and senior citizens categories.

“We have been planning this for a long time. With the help of the city council, we finally got the budget to stage this tournament,” said Mandaue City vice mayor Glen Bercede during yesterday’s opening ceremonies.

The tournament will only feature doubles competition. “I am planning to make this an annual tournament because I also want to promote tennis in Mandaue,” added Bercede. The tournament will last until July 29./CORRESPONDENT GLENDALE G. ROSAL
