Girl shot in face in scuffle for gun

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl was accidentally shot in the face by her 38-year-old live-in partner during a scuffle for the gun in barangay Luray 2, Toledo City last Sunday.

Police said the girl sustained a gunshot wound in the face and was confined in the hospital for treatment.

Police investigation showed that the scuffle started after the girl argued with her partner Alvin Gerongco of barangay Sangi, Toledo City about the text messages the girl read from Gerongco’s cell phone.

Both had just attended a party at a restaurant and drank liquor. The argument started when they boarded Gerongco’s vehicle to head for home and then they fought for the gun.

The gun went off during the scuffle hitting the girl in the face. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Gerongco later surrendered to police but he didn’t turn over his gun.

He, however, presented documents proving that his gun was legally acquired./Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc
