Alvin Garcia inclined to support Rama

FORMER Cebu City mayor Alvin Garcia said he is in speaking terms with  Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district. But he said he’s inclined to support Mayor Michael Rama.

There were reports Garcia’s son, Raymond may become one of the candidates for city councilor under the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK).

Garcia said he is not privy to his son’s plan.

But if ever his son  will run under BO-PK, Garcia said he will support his son but not necessarily the BO-PK slate.

Garcia clarified that he and Osmena have talked for five minutes during the wake of Osmeña’s mother few months ago, but they did not discuss about politics.

Garcia said he just extended his condolences to the family of the congressman,

He said he can only support Osmeña and BO-PK if the congressman will stop blocking the projects of Mayor Rama.

Garcia said he is inclined to support Rama’s bid because of the fact that Osmeña used the  council to block Rama’s projects, which is not good for the Cebuanos.

Garcia was Osmeña’s former vice mayor like Rama. He won the mayoralty seat in 1995 when Osmeña’s three terms expired. He was re-elected 1998.

Their relationship turned sour when Osmeña ran and defeated him in 2001.

Osmeña has confirmed he will run against Rama in 2013. /Jhunnex Napallacan, Correspondent
