INQUIRER.net poll: Time to get rid of buses on Edsa
MANILA, Philippines—The majority of readers polled by INQUIRER.net said that it was high time Metro Manila’s major thoroughfare Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, more popularly known as Edsa, was rid of public buses.
Of the total number of respondents (3,899), 85 percent, or 3,314, answered yes to the question “Do you think it’s time to rid Edsa of buses?” while only 15 percent, or 585, answered no.
Public utility buses are often blamed for causing the slow flow of traffic on the 23.8-kilometer Edsa, which spans from Monumento, Cloocan City, in the north to Pasay City in the south. Many drivers of these buses often linger on any part of the avenue waiting for passengers or pick up or unload passengers as they please, causing traffic to slow down.—Rick Alberto
