CAMP CRAME, Quezon City – Starting today, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be using short message service, or SMS, as a medium for its advisories, new services events, news updates and other announcements.
The PNP launched its Integrated Transformation Program – Performance Government System Text Center at Camp Crame on Tuesday. The launch was done at the new Program Management Office (PMO) of the camp.
Police Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, PMO Chief of Staff, said the PNP Text Center will be using a software that includes an auto reply system address frequently asked questions (FAQs). It can also conduct crucial, customer-oriented surveys in the near future.
The PNP previously launched PNP Txt 2920, Patrol 117 and I-Text Mo Kay Tsip, in a bid to become more accessible, and get closer to its publics.
A text message will cost one peso, but subscribers on unlimited text messaging plans, can use the service for free.
The public can text the PNP through 0916 3400444 for Globe, 0921 6266000 for Smart, and 0933 6564448 for Sun users.
