The burning incident occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday in Sitio (sub-village) Palanas, Barangay (village) Guinlin, Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur, Captain Albert Caber, spokesman of the Army’s 1st Infantry Battalion, said in a text advisory Friday.
Caber said that the payloader, which belonged to White House Construction owned by Wilson Co, was burned by four unidentified persons “believed to be NPA (members) assigned (to their) extortion unit.”
The heavy equipment could have been torched due to the company’s failure to cooperate with the group’s extortion demands, Caber said.
The suspects immediately fled after the attack, he said.
