Classes suspended in parts of metro, Calabarzon due to rain

Update on suspension of classes

MANILA, Philippines – Schools in parts of Metro Manila and the Calabarzon (Cavite-Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) suspended classes due to heavy rains Friday, according to reports culled by INQUIRER.net.

Radyo Inquirer 990AM said the following had called off classes:

In Metro Manila:
Pateros — Public pre-school, elementary and highschool

Parañaque City — Public and private pre-school, elementary and highschool

Pasay City — Afternoon classes in public and private pre-school, elementary and highschool

Marikina City — Public and private pre-school, elementary and highschool

Manila — Starting 12 noon in public pre-school, elementary and highschool

In Rizal:

Cainta — Public and private pre-school, elementary and highschool

Antipolo City — Public and private pre-school, elementary and highschool

Rodriguez — Public and private pre-school, elementary and high school

Angono — Public and private pre-school, elementary and high school

Teresa — Public and private pre-school, elementary and high school

Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Director Vicente Tomazar said flood waters were knee-high in parts of Taytay, along Ortigas exit and Don Mariano village, and in Barangay (village) San Juan in Morong town, rendering roads impassable to light vehicles.

In Cavite, the provincial and municipal government offices ordered the suspension of classes from pre-school to high school in the towns of General Trias, Noveleta, Rosario, Kawit and in the cities of Trece Martires, Imus, and Bacoor, according to Governor Juanito Victor Remulla.

In San Pedro, Laguna, the municipal government on late Thursday evening evacuated four families from their homes in Barangay United Better Living due to the possibility of a landslide, Tomazar said.
