Lapu releases traffic advisory for Ironman
ROAD closures and rerouting plans in Lapu-Lapu City for the Aug. 5 Ironman triathlon were announced by traffic authorities.
Part of ML Quezon national highway from the old Mactan Bridge to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. of Sunday, Aug. 5 to 2 a.m. the next day for the staging of the “Race Dance”, a street party.
The other side of the highway will be used for two-way traffic.
Vehicles from the public market may counterflow after crossing the bridge junction using the two lanes of the three-lane highway going to barangay Pusok, and then turn right at the corner of CPRA road and back to the normal roadway.
If they are going to MEPZ I, and those bound for Mandaue city, take the left turn at the road opening beside the Marcelo Fernan Statue leading to the bridge.
For 20-foot and 40-foot trailer trucks bound for Mandaue they must turn right at the corner of CPRA Road and then make a U-turn at Gate 3 and then on to their destination.

All vehicles from MEPZ I must pass under the Fernan Bridge in going to the public market, except for trailers, trucks, tankers and tourist buses. They must pass the outermost lane of the three-lane highway.
All public utility vehicles (jeepneys, taxis, tricycles) must pass under the old Mactan Bridge in going to the public market, except for those going to MEPZ II.
Counter flow traffic must stay on the right lane to avoid accidents.
Traffic signs will be posted for motorists to follow.
The advisory was sent to the Mactan airport, tourist estabishments, airlines, haulers and forwarders, taxi operators and the motoring public by the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) of Lapu-Lapu City headed by Frank I. Brazil.
