Classes supended in parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Classes were suspended in parts Metro Manila and Rizal Friday due to heavy rains, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported.

Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported that as of 7a.m., classes were suspended in: Pateros, morning classes public preschool, elementary and high school; Parañaque City, morning classes public and private in the pre- school, elementary and highschool; Pasay City, afternoon classes in preschool, elementary and high school public and private; Cainta, Rizal in the public and private preschool, elementary and high school; Antipolo City, public and private preschool, elementary and highschool; Angono, Rizal, classes in preschool, elementary and high school public & private; Teresa, Rizal, preschool, elementary and high school.

The downpour was caused by an active low pressure area and southwest monsoon, according to the state weather bureau.

As of 2a.m., the active low pressure area was seen 320 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora. A southwest monsoon was affecting Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

The whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Northern Luzon and over the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northwest to Southwest will prevail over Northern Luzon and from the Southwest over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, Pagasa said.
