Low pressure area brewing up North

An active low pressure area was forecast to bring widespread rain over Northern Luzon, and if it picks up, it could develop into a depression Friday, forecasters said Thursday.

From Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon, the entire archipelago, including Metro Manila, would be blanketed with clouds with rainshowers because of the active LPA, forecaster Marino Mendoza said.

“It will be cloudy with rainshowers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila,” he said in an interview Friday afternoon.

This cloudiness would become widespread rain over Northern Luzon, the western section of Central Luzon, Mindoro and Palawan, Mendoza said.

“It will be moderate to heavy rain, which can cause landslides and flashfloods,” he said in an interview. TJ Burgonio
