3 men tagged for ganging up on teen with autism

The mother of a teenager diagnosed with autism lodged a complaint Thursday against three male neighbors who allegedly mauled and tied up her child earlier this week in Quezon City.

Facing charges of child abuse, the three men were identified as Cardo Ramos, his son Rogelio and their cousin Nestor Ramos, all residents of Roque I, Barangay Pasong Tamo.

Jenalyn Mendiola said the respondents ganged up on her 18-year-old son, who is also an epileptic, at the compound where the Ramoses live.

In her complaint, Mendiola said another neighbor first alerted her to a commotion at the compound at around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Rushing out of the house, she saw her son already bound, bloodied and naked.

“When they (respondents) saw me, they finally untied my son’s hands and stopped the beatings,” the complainant said.

After having her son treated at Quezon City General Hospital, Mendiola secured a medico legal certificate showing that the teenager suffered gashes on his knees, arms, back, chest, shoulders, and forehead.

Later, however, the Mendiolas learned that the Ramoses had the incident recorded in the barangay hall blotter, in which Nestor Ramos was the “complainant” claiming that the teenager suddenly entered their house for no apparent reason.

Ramos also claimed that it was the other residents who ganged up on the teenager for trespassing.
