24 injured as truck hits jeep on SLEx

Twenty-four people were hurt, including three who remain in critical condition, after the passenger jeepney they were riding in was rammed by a truck on the northbound lane of the Nichols Exit toll gate on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) yesterday morning.

Eleven of the injured passengers were sent to Parañaque Doctors Hospital, eight to Medical Center Parañaque, three to Makati Medical Hospital and two to Taguig-Pateros Medical Hospital.

Senior Police Officer 1 Marcelino Peralta of the SLEx Highway Patrol said the truck driven by Julie Salazar, 27, lost its brakes and hit the jeepney in front of it.

According to the police, they were investigating if the jeepney driven by Ernesto Namo was operating illegally because it was using a license plate issued to a private vehicle. Tina G. Santos
