2 shot dead for hanging out at Lipa store
BATANGAS CITY, Philippine—A 63-year-old man shot and killed two truck helpers in front of his store in Lipa City because he did not want anybody hanging out at his establishment and was drunk at the time, police said Wednesday. Fourteen bullet shells were recovered from the site
Superintendent Christopher Birung, Lipa City police chief, said investigation showed that Wilfredo Maglinao, 27, and Orlando Macatangay (age unknown), were shooting the breeze in front of the store at around 8 p.m. when store owner Normando Llanes, 63, who was drunk, suddenly drew his gun and shot the two truck helpers. Both died on the spot.
Birung said the incident happened at Purok 1, Barangay Bugtong. He said the victims were both residents of Bugtong.
Investigation showed the store owner was known to disapprove of anyone hanging out in front of his store.
“The suspect does not really want anybody to use his store as a hangout area,” said Birung.
Llanes was arrested and detained at the city’s detention cell.
