Manila logs 32 new flu-like cases

MANILA, Philippines — Manila on Monday recorded 32 new influenza-like illness (ILI) cases, the highest number of new cases among the illnesses included in the city’s latest report on water-borne diseases, influenza, leptospirosis and dengue.

The Manila Health Department also logged 22 new dengue cases, 15 new leptospirosis cases and one new confirmed COVID-19 case on Sept. 21.

So far this year, Manila’s ILI cases reached 1,788, dengue cases 3,155, and leptospirosis cases 1,440. Confirmed COVID-19 cases stood at 94. Cases of cholera, typhoid fever or severe acute respiratory infection remained at four, 74 and 405, respectively.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso urged residents not to wait for their symptoms to worsen. “If you are feeling unwell, consult the nearest health facility immediately,” he said on Facebook. —Cristina Eloisa Baclig
